Description

Discover Cornwall’s most spectacular, and new, marine resident: the rainbow sea slug (Babakina anadoni).

In this episode of a series of marine wildlife mini-films, we take a close look at this once rare and vibrant nudibranch. Until recently, found only in water waters, this stunning creature has been making a surprising appearance along the south coast of the UK, particularly in the shallow reefs and rock pools of Cornwall.

We have a look at its fascinating biology, how it uses its bright cerata for defence, and what its sudden presence might tell us about the changing marine ecosystems of the UK. If you are an underwater photographer, diver, or British wildlife enthusiast, this is one creature you do not want to miss.

📺 About this series:
This video is part of a dedicated series of mini-films exploring the UK’s most incredible featured creatures. Each short documentary zooms in on a specific, fascinating marine species found along the British coastline — from giant crabs to pulsating jellyfish.
