Vercos Nudibranch (aka. Blue-yellow Sea Slug) Tambja verconis The Vercos Nudibranch sometimes called Blue-yellow sea slug occurs in moderately exposed reefs 2-36m deep from southern W.A. to central N.S.W., including Tas. They also occur in New Zealand. They are one of the most distinctive and abundant nudibranch and are found relatively easily found by divers in places such as the portsea pier in Victoria. Look closely on the pylons and you will find them. This nudibranch apparently feeds exclusively on the green bryozoan. They can nearly always be found close to the distribution of green bryozoan it feeds on. They grow up to 130mm in length. Like all nudibranchs they have exposed gills on its back for oxygen exchange and rhinophores to help them find their food at the front of the body.
