During our interview “murph” explained to us that there are three main species of dolphin that can be found in Port Phillip Bay:

1. Short beaked common dolphin which are more common outside of the bay but pods numbers can exceed several hundred animals.
2. Common bottlenose dolphin which are fairly regularly spotted in the bay.
3. The endemic Burrunan dolphin. Only around 150 anywhere in the world and are most commonly seen within the bay.
