LES RENDEZ-VOUS DE L’ERDRE – JAZZ ET LA BELLE PLAISANCE
An annual festival of sailing and swing music on the River Erdre, a tributary of the Loire.

SOUND
The music in this video was either performed live at the RDV Erdre 2019, or is taken from the iMovie library. In the latter case it is generally used to cloak problems with ambient sound recording, which is a huge problem on a small boat in the open air. The aim in my videos is to use ambient sound as much as possible, rather than background music throughout, but I struggle with this. Fans of the channel will have noticed that I have previously resorted to using recorded duck quacks to cover various flaws in recorded sound. All the ducks in this video are genuine though.

MY BOAT
Do you want a boat like mine, (even if she is not shown much in this video)?
She is an adapted Ilur designed by François Vivier, and built of clinker plywood by les Charpentiers Reunis of Cancale in 1994. The design is based closely on the traditional inshore fishing boats of Brittany, including her single boom-less lugsail rig and lack of a mainsheet horse, (controversial among my viewers). Although rare in Britain, Ilurs are quite common in France. http://www.vivierboats.com/en/
