Description

We were testing an old Panasonic HVX200 in a Gates underwater housing in waters of Browns Bay in Auckland. The bay is shallow with a flat rocky reef occasionally protruding from sandy bottom. Those rocky areas are covered with thick layer of brown algae (sea weeds), mostly Carpophylum and Ecklonia radiata. A lot of small critters and colourful sponges hide under the layer of vegetation while small schools of reef fish glide above it. Sometimes an eagle ray or an octopus can be spotted.
Water is usually quite murky with that yellowish tint. That did not prevent us from testing the camera though.
