This is one of eight computer animated dives developed by Scottish Natural Heritage exploring Scotland’s west coast. With over 160 square kilometres of unbroken canopy, the expansive brown leathery kelp forests around Inner Temple Rock provide habitat and shelter for a diversity of marine life. A feature within the Sound of Barra Special Area of Conservation, the kelp forests also provide an important foraging ground for harbour seals. The harbour seal population within the Sound of Barra is relatively stable, however, in many parts of Scotland their numbers are in decline.
